| MVA 2-12-2010 At 11:09 hours Squad 7 and Ambulance 7 were dispatched mutual aid to Solomons for an auto accident with entrapment at Route 4 and Cove Point Road. Squad 7 arrived on location immediately after Rescue 3. Squad 7 deployed the Hurst Cutter and Spreader along with the Hurst Combo Tool. Squad 7 started to work on the driver’s side opposite Rescue 3, removing the driver’s door and cutting the A, B and C posts on the driver’s side to remove the roof. At this time the back seat passenger was removed to awaiting EMS. The front passenger’s right foot was pinned under the right side rail which had rolled over under impact. The rail was rolled back and the passenger’s foot was freed. A full dash push and pull was performed using chains and spreaders and rams to free the driver. All of these operations by Squad 7 and Rescue 3 took approximately 30 minutes. All three patients were flown to local trauma centers for care. | March 14th, 2010 At 0036 hrs Engine 71, Squad 7 and Tanker 7 were dispatched along with Solomons Co.3, Bay District Co 3 and 9, Hollywood Co.7 and Prince Frederick Co.2 to the area of Gregg Dr for the reported House Fire. While en-route Calvert advised that the residence was in the 1300 block of Gregg Dr and it appeared to be a working fire. Solomons Engine 33 arrived on the scene to find a single story single family dwelling with fire through the roof and begin defensive operations. Engine 71 arrived secured 33's supply and then pulled the second line off Engine 33 and assisted with extinguishment. As the bulk of the fire was extinguished and water supply was set up the crews from Squad 7 and Engine 71 along with other units begin making there way inside to hit the remaining hot spots and overhaul. Units from St. Leonard operated on the scene until 0500 hrs. Additionally, this was the first working fire that Squad 7 has operated on since being placed in-service in January. | March 8th, 2010 At 1438 hrs BX-7 (Rescue Lt. J. Anderson) was dispatched for a reported unattended burn in the area of the high voltage power lines on Western Shores Blvd. Capt 7 (B. Lankford) and Sgt 7 (D. Bowen) arrived to find a working brush fire, this brought Jeep 7 (FF C. Eckles) and Tanker 7 (Rescue Sgt C. Lankford). Upon further investigation it was discovered that the fire orginated from a flying embers from a burn barrel that had ignited the surrounding grass and brush on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by Company 7 units who returned to service at 1520 hrs. |
