Motor Vehicle Collision

On March 1, 2009 at 1732 as the snow began to become heavy over the St. Leonard area Engine Co. 7, Squad 6,
Rescue 3, Ambulance 7 and Ambulance 3 were dispatched to the area of Broomes Island Road and Route 4 south for
the MVC with a vehicle overturned.  Engine 72 (Rescue Lt. Lankford), Engine 71 (Lt. Jimmy Gryskewicz), Car 7 (7B Jen
Lankford), Ambulance 78 (EMT J. Ogden), and Ambulance 79 (EMS Capt.  S. Myers) responded.  Engine 72 arrived on
location to find a single vehicle on its side with two patients still inside.  Chief 7B arrived and assumed command,
Engine 72 and 71 crews worked in conjunction to extricate the two patients.  Ambulance 79 transported one patient
priority 2 and Ambulance 78 obtained one signed refusal.   
Motor Vehicle Collision

On March 3, 2009 at 0105 hours Engine 7, Squad 2, Ambulance 7 and 4 were alerted to Route 4 South of Parran Rd.
for the motor vehicle collision. Engine 72 (Sgt. D. Bowen), Ambulance 78 (EMS Capt. S. Myers), Ambulance 79 (EMT-B
J. Ogden), and Lt. M. Richman responded.  Engine 72 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with one patient
trapped and established the command.  Engine 72 began stabilization, secured the power and began extrication while
awaiting the arrival of Squad 2.  Squad 2 and Safety Officer 2 arrived, fully stabilized the vehicle and helped finish the
extrication.  
House Fire

On March 6th at 1523 Area Box 309 was dispatched for the house fire bringing Engines 3, 7, 27, 29, Truck 23, Squad
27 and Ambulance 3.  Engine 71 (7B J. Lankford) and Car 7 (7A E. Earnshaw) responded.  After the control center
received multiple calls they immeadiately requested from Chief 7A the WFD.  Units arrived 71 assumed the 1st due
position, to find a two story addition attached to a single story rambler with heavy fire on Side A, B and C.  71 crew
along with Solomons pulled various attack lines and begin interior operations. The bulk of the fire in the single story
rambler was knocked but the evacuation tones were sounded after fire had vented through the roof of the addition.  
Units from Solomons, St. Leonard, Bay District, Hollywood and Prince Frederick switched to exterior defensive
operations to control the fire.  After the fire was placed under control units begin overhaul operations clearing at 1909.

Chimney Fire

On March 3rd at 2010 hours Engine 7, 2, 3, 6, Tower 2, Squad 2 and Ambulance 7 were alerted for the chimney fire.  
Engine 71 (7A E. Earnshaw), Tanker 7 (Sgt. D. Bowen), Amulance 78 (EMS Sergeant J. Strobel) and Ambulance 79
(EMT D. Wilt) responded.  Engine 71 arrived to find a two story single family dwelling with nothing evident,
homeoweners reported fire coming from the chimney.  Engine 71 and Tanker 7 investigated, 71 made access to the
roof and used two chimney bombs and the chain to knock the remnants of the smoldering debries out of the chimney.  
Motor Vehicle Collision

On March 10, 2009 at 21:53 companies 7, 2,and 4 were alerted for rescue box 701. 72 arrived with a single vehicle
into a pole. 72's crew quickly began cribbing and stabilizing the patients car. Ambulance 79 arrived and started the
back boarding procedures. 72’s crew did minor extrication, then assisted with back boarding and loading the patient
into the ambulance. Crews cleared in a little under 30 minutes.     
Fly Out

On March 23, 2009 Ambulance 7 was dispatched for a subject fallen.  Ambulance 79 (EMT A. Wallmark) arrived on
location to find a patient who had fallen off a horse.  Utility 7 (J. Ogden) was requested and provided manpower.  Due
to a suspected spinal cord injury, patient was flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center.  Engine 71 ( J. Schooley)
handled landing site at the concert field in front of Company 7.  
Motor Vehicle Collision

On March 25, 2009 At 1909 companies 7,4,6 were alerted for the motor vehicle accident at Broomes Island
Road and Route 4. Chief 2 arrived with two vehicles involved; all victims were out of the vehicles, with one
patient.  Upon the arrival of ambulance 79 (J Strobel) and engine 72 (D. Bowen) patient care was started. Crews
loaded the patient, and cleared roadways. Operation time 20 minutes.
Motor Vehicle Collision

March 26 at 1707 companies 7,4, and 6 wear alerted for an motor vehicle collision at Route 4 and
Western Shores. Upon the arrival of ambulance 78 (EMS Cpt 7), 79 (EMT Graham) they proceeded
with the packaging of two patients. Engines 72 (D. Bowen) arrived to assist with vehicle stabilization
and the removal of potential hazards. All units cleared scene in approximately 30 min.
