Vehicle Overturned on Fire

August 10, 2005 - At 2222 hours, Station 7 and 2 along with EMS Station 4 and the Medic Unit were dispatched to the corner of Ball and Broomes Island Rd for an auto accident with one vehicle over turned into the woods.  Chief 2A arrived on location, established command, and found a single vehicle overturned in the woods on fire.  It was unknown if there were any occupants in the vehicle.  The driver of Ambulance 78, the officer of Squad 7, Chief 7, and CCSD pulled fire extinguishers and put a knock on the fire until the arrival of Engine 72. Engine 72 arrived, pulled a cross lay, extinguished the fire, and searched the vehicle for occupants. Command was turned over to Rescue Sgt. 7. With no occupants found the crew of Squad 7 searched the surrounding area and found nothing. MSP found the patient at Mackall Road and Broomes Island Road transported patient to the scene and Ambulance 48 got a sign refusal. Squad 7 and Engine 72 remained in service on the scene until the arrival of the tow company before returning to service at 2315 hours.
