Slow Days at the Firehouse March 29, 2005 - The firehouse has been slow the last week, but members have still been busy around the firehouse. Some of our apparatus is making the transfer from winter to summer. The Utility was sent up the road today to be furnished with a new set of tires. When it returns, the winch on the front will be removed along with the cap on the back. The cap will then be replaced with a black utility box which will carry a first responder bag, AED, and miscellaneous other equipment. The cover on the Jeep has been removed and in a few weeks, the doors will also be removed. There are also many renovations taking place around the firehouse. The weight room has been moved to the second engine bay while a female officers bunkroom will take it's place. Next to the female officers bunkroom, a male officers bunkroom is under construction. Broken tiles that line the engine bays are being replaced as well as the broken tile that runs down each hallway. Our communications room is being repainted while a new desk has been ordered for the EMAIS computer, to replace the old countertop. Each of the bunkrooms, male and female are having repairs done. Currently, the males bunkroom shower is being retiled and a new light/fan/heater combination is to be installed. Members have also been honing their ping pong skill on our newest addition to the entertainment part of the firehouse. There is still always time to work on the final preparations for the Charlie Daniels concert, to take place in the field next to our firehouse on July 10th of 2005. |
